Kodak Black was booked into Broward County Jail this week but was quickly released on bond, while also scoring a small victory in the process.

According to TMZ, the Florida rapper was in jail for around an hour on Monday (June 26) before being released on a $250,000 bond. Despite the hefty fee, his lawyer, Bradford Cohen, says the quick visit was positive for his federal drug case.

Kodak has been under strict supervision as part of his pretrial release, with the terms requiring him to regularly check in with authorities for mandatory urine tests.

However, he failed to check in for a recent drug test and was forced to appear in court over the issue on Monday.

During the hearing, Cohen argued to remove his client’s strict pretrial supervision. The judge agreed to his request in exchange for increasing Kodak’s bond from $75,000 to $250,000, which is why he had to briefly return to jail.

Police took a new mugshot photo of Kodak Black before he was released from custody, but not without paying the $175,000 difference between his new bond and the original bond.

Cohen sees it as a win due to Kodak now being able to travel and tour without needing check in with pretrial services.

Kodak Black was initially arrested in July 2022 on charges of trafficking in oxycodone and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, as well as driving with an expired license and tags.

He was released the next day on a $75,000 bond under strict pretrial release terms to submit to drug testing while the case was pending.

When he missed a drug test earlier this year, he made up for it — but then failed that one.

Kodak Black and his legal team appeared in the Broward County courtroom soon after. His lawyer claimed he was out of town when he was asked to do the first test, with the second test being a mix-up.

“There’s just so much with this that’s unjust and not right about this situation,” Kodak said at the time. “Not only am I denying it, but I’m hurt about it too because my character is being assassinated and I can’t speak about all that because I don’t wanna make the story bigger than what it is.”

He added: “All the good deeds, all the good things I do never goes viral and I don’t know why.”
